1. Develop understanding of fractions as numbers, including;
  • representing equal parts of 1 whole,
  • identifying a unit fraction,
  • building fractions from the unit fraction using visual models and number lines, and
  • comparing fractions within 1 whole using visual models and number lines
Understanding fractions as numbers serves as a fundamental building block for more complex mathematical concepts encountered in higher grades, such as decimals, percentages, algebra, and even advanced calculus. Understanding fractions is crucial in real-life situations, including measurements, cooking, finances, and many other daily activities. It helps children make sense of the world around them and apply mathematical concepts in practical scenarios.

When: Sundays, March 3 - March 17
Time: 3:00pm - 4:00pm
